New Album, Tour, To Showcase Unheard Material

In an interview with The Morning Call, Boyd Tinsley let loose - yet again - more information regarding the much hyped 9th album. Tinsley once again states that the new album is closely related to those of past times:
”I’d say like, not as far as the songs are concerned in particular, but like the mood and the vibe of it feels like ‘Under The Table (And Dreaming)’ and ‘Crash’ … it feels like the beginning again, but the music is just a lot different. It’s just like the whole excitement of starting something new, starting something fresh, feels like those first couple of albums.”

However, the biggest news came when Boyd said:
“Every song on the new CD is something fresh and new that we just finished. The songs that we started in that session with Mark we might one day go back into the studio and record. Even from time to time we might bring some of the songs on stage and just play them live. We discussed maybe picking up (and finishing a new CD) from there. But the whole feel of everybody was let’s just start with a blank sheet and let’s just build up, take ideas and build [new] songs from that.”
With that statement, the possibility of unreleased songs pre-Stand Up, such as Sugar Will, getting on the album is low. Also, songs that the band worked on for their attempt at the album just after Stand Up, such as Shotgun and Break Free, also seem unlikely to appear on the album. However, as many fans have learnt, only time will tell.
Also mentioned in the article is the disappearance of Batson, who was supposed to be producing the album when the band hit the studio earlier on. Lastly, Boyd mentioned that songs of the past could very likely be played this tour, as well as these “unheard songs” of the new album. Be sure to read the article; link is below.
